To Allan's family, may I say how sad I am to know of his passing. My thoughts today are about him and you through him. After almost 40 years with the Depatment of External Affairs/Department of Foreign Affairs/Global Affairs, Allan Gotlieb was the best Under Secretary that I had the pleasure of serving. Canada has lost a great man.

I am so devastated by him passing away.We had been friends since he went to Oxford where he obtained the best law degree for 50 years. He used to stay with us in London when he was not in Oxford.
He was one of the most remarkable men I have ever met kind caring and loving to those he knew
I send to Sandra and all his family my deepest condolences and love xxx
