Amine Fawaz Obituary
He was born January 1, 1954, in Lebanon to Mohammad and Arfeh Abu Khalil Fawaz. He was a professor of mathematics at UTPB. He married Anita Weber August 6, 1995, in Estes Park, Colo.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Fawaz; son, Alec Fawaz; daughter, Alma Fawaz, all of Odessa; brothers, Ali Fawaz of Dearborn, Mich., Abdullah Fawaz of Beirut, Lebanon; sisters, Samia Fawaz and Fatme Fawaz, both of Dearborn, Mich. and Warde Fawaz of Beirut, Lebanon and Zahra Abou-Khalil of Tyre, Lebanon.
Private services will be held. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

I just learned of Dr. Fawaz's passing. I am deeply saddened by the news. He was my husband's and my professor at UTPB. He was the best professor a student could ever ask for. I felt like I could go to him for anything. He believed in me and encouraged me to go for my Master's degree in math (I will graduate from A&M in August). He will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I met Dr Fawaz two times in Beirut and I asked him to give us a conference at the Lebanese university during his visit to Lebanon in Christmas. He directly accepted and encouraged me to do such events in Lebanon and to continue the research.
All my condolences to his wife, children and family. We will miss you all.

Dr. Fawaz was the best math teacher I have ever had in my life. He made the subject interesting and taught in a unique way that made a difficult subject so easy to understand. He was a kind person and a wonderful professor, and I thank him for helping me understand math. I will never forget Dr. Fawaz. God Bless him and his family.

Dr. Fawaz was one of my Math professors at UTPB and definitely one of the best professors I've ever had. Thank you for all your help and you will not be forgotten. Definitely a sad loss for all UTPB. Students and alumni. God bless you Dr. Fawaz

This IS terrible and having been prepared by updates didn't make it better. I got to know Amine better than I get to know most people by spending a month with him in Chihuahua in the "pioneer" UTPB-UACH exchange group several years ago. He had qualities of international/cosmopolitan wit and wisdom that would make the world a better place if more widely distributed.
