Barbara was a loyal friend to my mom , Georgia Pena, through their years of teaching and then into retirement. Barbara would share her fabulous Pecan Pies and mom would share fresh vegetables. Most of all they shared a love of helping children and education. May you find peace in knowing Barbara was loved by all that knew her. God Bless.

Barbara was such a positive influence on the lives of her coworkers and her students. I loved and respected her as a friend and fellow teacher. May her family be comforted with the knowledge that so many loved Barbara.

Dear Barb,
You were the apple of my father and mother's eyes. They, as well as myself, thought the world of you. Watching and listening to you and Uncle Briggie on our last visit in your home will remain in my memory in a special place. As I think of you it brings a smile to my face and a warm glow to my heart. I love and miss you.

Barbara was one of my dearest friends, and for many years we shared many hours of wonderfully good times together. I treasure those good memories so much. She was always kind, gracious, and loving, never uttering an unkind word. Barbara loved teaching and young people, and her influence will live on today in the many lives she has touched.

Barbara was such a beautiful and kind woman. In fact, one of the best I've ever known from Muleshoe. Even though I hadn't been around her for years, she was a friend, and I will always have sweet memories. Jenny, you know I love you and my prayers are with you and Billy. Your mother meant so much to everyone she was around. What a wonderful legacy! God Bless You and give you the strength needed to get through the days ahead! All my love, Jama

I have dreaded the day that I would no longer be able to have slumber parties with my dear friend. She has been my reading teacher, next door neighbor, and one of my closest friends. We have laughed until we cried, shared life stories, and comforted each other over these last 10+ years after I moved back to the Panhandle. I love her so dearly and while I reJOYce for her, I grieve but anticipate the day when we will be reunited. My love & prayers for each member of Barbara's family. I have heard so many stories and know how much she loves each of you. Her refrigerator was always full of your faces and she loved to tell me about you.

Barb was a very special lady. She loved her family above all else. She knew how to make everyone welcome in her home. I spent much time with her, Jenny, and Billy as a child. She and my mom, Eva, were best friends even though they were aunt and niece. Barb will always occupy a special place in my heart.

I've had many friends during my life, and a very few really close and best friends; Barbara was one of the best! I so enjoyed years in the teaching profession with her. I've enjoyed the trips to Muleshoe, taking sandwiches to her home, and our long visits during the past 8 years. I will miss her for a long time, but I'm also glad that her suffering has ended. I can just hear her singing, "I'll be Alright as Soon as I touch Calvary." God bless her family. I love all of you! I never left her presence that I did not feel like a KING, and that has been for 42 years. Wayland Ethridge
