Betty A Platus

Betty A. O'Neal Platus 74, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Columbus Hospice House.
Mrs. Platus was born September 9, 1942 in Primrose, Georgia to the late Vester O'Neal and Janie Milam O'Neal. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Louis L. "Joe" Platus, two brothers, James O'Neal and Bob O'Neal, three sisters, Sara Lowman, Martha Peavy and Elsie Kierbow. Her passion was her family, to which she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 5-7pm, in the St. Elmo Room of Striffler-Hamby.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 11:00 am, in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA., with Pastor Gene Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Kelly Williams and husband Ed, and Becky Manning and husband Dale; son, Joey Platus and wife Tracy all of Columbus, GA; one brother, Marvin O'Neal, and a sister, Dot Kinney and husband Roy, seven grandchildren, Jamie Williams, Jacy Williams, Emily Hill, Cole Hill, Colton Platus, Madilyn Platus, all of Columbus, GA, and Lindsey Green and husband Chris of Crestview, FL; three great grandchildren, Cannon Williams, Gatlin Green and Merritt Green; and many friends and other family members.
