“Caryl was my second mother. She was my piano teacher for about 7 years and we became very close. When my mother died she went to her funeral. She was very close to me, she became my second mother and I was very bonded with her. She was a great woman, very talented in piano, music and a great person. She will always be a very special part of my life in my memories. John Petzoldt.
“I am her Godaughter and regret I was never able to visit her since I never was in the area after moving to Nevada She was a great mentor when I converted to Catholicism as a young girl and has remained in my prayers. I will miss her cards.
“Caryl and I were roommates on our first Children's Literature tour. A bond developed through shared stories and many hours of laughter. My memories of her are filled with warmth and laughter and music.
“Caryl and I were roommates on Children's Lit trips in the summer. Her spirit and imagination were vivid. I listened late into the night to her stories. I'll cherish the opportunity I had to know such an unusual person - so full of life, talent, wisdom. I'll miss her presence in this world. Love, Connie
“Though my memories are few, they are fond. May eternal light shine upon her . . .
“love you eternally, dearest mom.
