Hill & Wood Funeral Service - Charlottesville Obituary

Christopher Sachem Foley, 28, of Louisa, Va., died on Wednesday January 31, 2018 in Crozet, VA as the one fatality of the Amtrak train and truck collision. Born March 15, 1989 in Stockbridge, Ga., he was the son of Catherine and Kerry Foley. Chris was an amazing young man who liked to give others a smile. Born and raised in Atlanta, Ga., he moved to Charlottesville, Va., in 2009. He would do anything in his power to help his family. Even though his years were few, he lived a full life and touched many lives. He was skilled at living life in the moment, was always willing to help, and always enjoyed a good laugh. With a heart of gold and the strength and determination to match, his life was full of loving friends and family who were his everything. Chris was an amazing father and partner, and adored by his parents and family. His son Rylan was the light of his life and the spitting image of Chris's perfection. His memory will forever live through his baby boy. Chris is survived by his fiancée Adriana Puentes and son Rylan Foley of Louisa, Va.; his parents, Catherine and Kerry Foley; sister Kate Tidwell, her husband Jonathan Tidwell, and nephews Evan, Jake, and Charlie of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Samuel Remer of Monroe, Ga.; aunts Bethanne Jenks and Deirdre Foley of Atlanta, Ga.; aunt Siobhan Beasley and family of Charlotte, N.C.; uncles Padraic Foley of Charlotte, N.C., and Barry Baker of Tampa, Fla.; cousin Harley Jenks of Decatur, Ga., cousin Michael Jenks and family, and cousin Dawn Griffith of Salt Lake City, Utah. Thanks to all the first responders and emergency personnel, including nurse Lynn Olmsted, and to the congressmen including Phil Roe, Bill Cassidy and Brad Wenstrup, who disregarded requests by security to stay on the train after the collision, and worked on trying to revive Chris for quite some time. A vigil will be held for Chris at 5:30 p.m. Friday February 9, 2018 at Tabor Presbyterian Church, 5804 Tabor Street, Crozet, VA 22932 (434-823-4455) with memorial services being held at 3 p.m. Saturday February 10, 2018 at Hill & Wood Funeral Home, 201 N. First Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902 (434-296-6148).
