Not sure what to say?

Dear Jerry and family,

I was shocked to hear about Diane's passing. She had such a feisty and strong personality with that great sense of humor. I intended on coming this morning but am pretty ill myself with pneumonia. I will look forward to seeing you soon so I cna convey my condolences in person.

Hopefully your great memories of 40 years together will help soften the loss.
