Donald GRIM Obituary

July 14, 1946 – October 24, 2025

Don was born in Lewiston, ID, to Kenneth and Monzell Stover Grim. He grew up in Clarkston, originally on a farm, hence often referring to himself as "just an innocent farm boy." After graduation from Clarkston High School, he attended Eastern Washington University followed by Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, IL. In Chicago, he met and married Susan Seidel. Don and Sue moved to Spokane in 1976, where he established his podiatry practice. He was active in the WA State Podiatric Medical Association, where he served as President from 1983 to 1985. Don maintained his podiatry office until 2009, when he moved to Rockwood Clinic, until retiring from podiatry in 2014. For the past 10 years, he worked part-time at Enterprise, which was a source of camaraderie and friendship.

Don and Sue welcomed their daughter, Shellee Ann, after moving to Spokane. Despite their divorce, Don remained an active and involved father attending many school and sporting events as Shellee's biggest fan.

Don was a lifelong member of the Lewiston Elks Lodge No. 896. He was active in Masonic organizations as a member of the Lewis-Clark chapter of the Order of Demolay, member of El Katif Shrine (Manito Blue Lodge #246), and served as the Associate Guardian of Job's Daughters Bethel #1. Don was an avid sports fan and loved cheering for WSU, EWU, the Seahawks, and the Mariners. He found a church family at Mosaic Fellowship where he was heavily involved including as a member of the ministry leadership team.

The highlight of Don's life was becoming a grandfather to Henry and Olivia (Livie). He always loved babies and was over the moon to have grandbabies of his own. We treasured our visits and time together.

In 2023, Don learned that he had a bonus child, Christopher Morris Steele. They met a few times in person and further grew their relationship over regular phone calls.

Don was preceded in death by his parents. Don was survived by his children, Chris (Meagan) Steele and Shellee Grim; sisters, Janette Norton and Joanne McKay; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and treasured friends and colleagues who will miss him dearly. Don's sense of humor, faith, and strong moral compass will live in those who remember him. A Celebration of Life will be held at Mosaic Fellowship (606 W. 3rd Ave., Spokane) on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Union Gospel Mission, Shriners Children's, or Mosaic Fellowship Missions Fund.
