Doris Parker Howell

Doris Parker Howell, 93, of Northport, Alabama, passed away on October 29, 2025, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Magnolia Chapel North, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45a.m. Burial will follow the service at Memory Hill Gardens.
Doris was born in Northport on January 10, 1932, to Wiley and Easter Parker. She was one of ten children.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Easter; her father, Wiley; her husband of 37 years, John Raymond Howell; sisters Ruby and Cleta, and Irene, who died in infancy; brothers Elgin, Bert, Lee, Tossie, and Herbert Jean.
She leaves behind sons Kenneth “Chuck” (Sarah) and Jeff (Jane); brother Raymond Parker (Helen); four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The job Doris enjoyed most was that of secretary at Crestmont Elementary School. She loved all the children and was a caring figure to many students over the years. Doris treasured spending time with her family and was an accomplished seamstress. A devout Christian, she was a faithful member of Northport Baptist Church for many years.
Pallbearers will be Joe Howell, Ralph Clements, Ryan Howell, Steven Howell, Neal Alexander and James Wallace.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
