OAKLAWN FUNERAL HOME - EDNA Obituary

Edward James Hajek, of Edna, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 26, 2022, at the age of 87. He was born in Shiner, Texas on January 16, 1935, to the late Edward Emil Hajek and Janie Vana Hajek.


Eddie was the proprietor of Eddie’s Barber and Beauty Salon. for 48 ½ years in downtown Edna, Texas. He also served as President of Texana Days, a member of the Edna Chamber of Commerce, and member of the Jaycees. Eddie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.


Eddie is survived by his wife of 42 years, Wilma Rasmussen Hajek; sons, Dexter James Hajek (Diane) of Alice, Tx and Michael Anthony Hajek (Melissa) of Hallettsville, Tx; daughters, Gretchen Zbranek Dodds (Craig) and Laya Zbranek Clowers (Shane) both of Edna, Tx; sister, Betty Lou Novak (Hank) of Shiner, Tx; brother, Robert Hajek of Victoria, Tx. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.  


He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Janie Hajek.


Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. with a Memorial service to begin at 11:00 a.m. all at the First Baptist Church of Edna, Texas.

Mr. Hajek was a very humble person. He served others never seeking his own notoriety. He was friends with everyone and loved his City of Edna. He will be missed by all who knew him.
