Elena Toro Elena Toro passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013. She was born on September 18, 1927, near Santiago, Chile, the daughter of the late Luis Toro and Rosa Dinamarca. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1962, and became a U.S. citizen at Monticello on July 4, 1972. Elena was a well-known seamstress and gardener in Albemarle County and also worked for Leggett/Belk for many years. She never married and was preceded in death by her brother, Exequiel Toro. She is survived by three sisters in Chile, Maria, Luisa and Ernestina Toro. Elena was able to reside peacefully in her beloved North Garden home for more than 30 years with the support of many close friends.
