Erwin Wolfe "Hookey" Evans Cox Funeral Home Bastrop, Louisiana BEEKMAN, LA. Funeral services for Mr. Erwin Wolfe "Hookey" Evans will be held at 2:00p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Hughes Chapel Methodist Church with Bro. Bobby Porter officiating. Interment will follow at the Hughes Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Erwin Wolfe Evans was born February 5, 1927 in Bastrop, Louisiana to the late Luckett Abel Evans, Sr. and Melissa Louise Brown Evans. He passed away January 23, 2012 at Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop. Mr. Evans, a lifelong resident of the Beekman Community, attended Hughes Chapel Methodist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was retired from Bancroft Bag in West Monroe and was currently the Constable for Ward 2 of Morehouse Parish, a position he has held since October 6, 1990. Mr. Erwin is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Velma Louise Evans, who passed away on January 5, 2012; and three brothers, L.A. Evans, Jr., Kenneth Earl Evans, and Benny Sam Evans. Mr. Evans is survived by a son, Erwin Wolfe "Jimmy" Evans, Jr. of Bastrop; his two daughters, Linda Diane Goyne and her husband, Jimmy Goyne and Teresa Ann Newnum and her husband, Gary Newnum all of Bastrop; five grandchildren, Stacey Goyne and his wife, Janie, Wade Goyne and his wife, Kristy, Eric Newnum and his wife, Chelsea, Ashley Mashburn and her husband, Roy, and Shelley Evans; six great-grandchildren, Trey Goyne, Ethan Goyne, Brayden Mashburn, Rylann Mashburn, Stevie Evans, and Alysa Jones; three brothers, Huey Franklin Evans and his wife, Jane of Bastrop, Louisiana, Ronald Aubrey Evans and his wife, Grace of Monroe, Louisiana and Edward Ray Evans of West Monroe, Louisiana; three sisters, Jeannette Ray of Mer Rouge, Louisiana, Mary Stanley and her husband, Glendol and Fay Jordan all of Bastrop; numerous nephews and nieces and a host of extended family. Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Newnum, Roy Mashburn, Ethan Goyne, Curt Jordan, Billy Jordan, and Tommy Jordan. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Evans, Aubrey Evans, Frankie Evans, Dillon Evans, and Glendol Stanley. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 noon until time for services Tuesday January 24th, at Hughes Chapel Methodist Church.
