Erwin M. Schaffer

Guest Book

Not sure what to say?

He was a loving person. If it was not for him, I would not have got my braces. He used to tell me "you will have a million dollars smile". I miss him.

I am grateful for the loving memories I have of this very special person.

My deepest sympathy to Dr. Schaffer's family and friends. He was my dentist, but I wish he had been my father. He was one of the nicest men I have ever had the pleasure to meet. As a patient, he treated me, and I suspect his other patients, as well, with kindness, understanding, and respect that I have never seen in in all the years I worked in the health sciences. What a gem he was to all who knew him.

Erwin was a dear friend and fellow Dean. He will always be remembered as one of the "great leaders" of dental education in the United States and will be greatly missed.

Please accept my sincere condolences to his family on his passing.

Great Uncle Erwin was a gentle loving man who we will always remember fondly and miss dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.

As one of Mike's daughters and a grandaughter of Erwin, I wanted to say how much all of your words mean. It is so wonderful to be able to see the many different roles my grandpa played in so many lives. I always thought he was one of the most special people in the world, and it feels good to hear that he had such an impact on the lives of others as well. Our family thanks you for your thoughts and condolences.

I'll remember my favorite baseball coach of more than 40 years ago.

I am saddened by the news of Dr. Schaffer’s passing and honored to have known him, worked for him and been considered a colleague. His contributions to dentistry and periodontics will be a lasting memory and testament to his greatness. Erwin Schaffer hired me to teach dental students in the Dept of Periodontics from 1973-76; probably the first dental dean to allow a dental hygienist to teach in the dental clinic. He was indeed a visionary who saw what was, what could be and then made it...

My thoughts are with you and your family. I always think of your Dad as a generous fellow and a true gentleman. I'm certain that he will be missed by many. I mentioned his passing to my cousin Bill Urseth, who surprised me by saying that he knew him well from their days in the Rotary. He expressed high admiration and sends his condolences as well.
