Evelyn P. (O'Brien) Bergantino, of Framingham, formerly of Wayland and Waltham, died Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Brookdale Cushing Park in Framingham. She was 90.
She was born in Waltham on August 18, 1935, a daughter of the late Richard and Bella (LeBlanc) O’Brien and was a graduate of Waltham High School. Until her retirement Evelyn worked as a telephone operator for The New England Telephone Company.
Before recently moving to Framingham, Evelyn lived in Natick and Wayland for many years.
Evelyn‘s greatest joy in life was the time she spent with her family and friends. She and her husband John loved hosting annual Christmas Eve get together’s where the entire family gathered to celebrate.
She was an expert shopper and could find the best sales and bargains at any store . . . Macy’s was her favorite destination. Evelyn was quite the ‘fashionista’ and was always dressed impeccably.
She was a talented artist and decorator, and loved anything involving crafts. She also kept a meticulous garden at her home.
The wife of the late John A. Bergantino, she leaves her son, John A. Bergantino and his wife, Linda, of Framingham; her grandchildren, Tara Arena, and her husband, Michael, Amy Coppola and her husband, Daryl, and Melissa Anderson and her husband, Shanton; her great-grandchildren, Tyler Milioto, Jack, Grace, Faith and Jon Arena, Giada and Lorenzo Coppola, and Daelan and Kaiya Anderson; her sister, Elaine Tully, and her husband, Jay of Florida; her brother, Richard O’Brien of Brockton and many nieces, nephews and their families.
She was also a sister of the late Robert O’Brien.
Family and friends will honor and remember Evelyn’s life by gathering for a Morning Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, October 29th from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
