Not sure what to say?

I'll always remember Fred. He was a very kind, compassionate, and generous man. He was like a second father to me. I was saddened to hear of his passing. I count myself among those privileged to have known him.

I came upon this obituary by chance, but it brought memories flooding back. I am a cousin of cousins! Cousin to the Hurlbut clan, niece of Fred's aunt, Florence Hurlbut. When we were all teenagers - Fred a bit older than I , being I think about the same age as Steve - I can remember going with my aunt and cousins and Freddie to Clear Lake (I am the same age as Margie Hurlbut). We had a wonderful time and I have fond memories of Fred, a gentle, good soul for sure. Somewhere I have pictures...

Sincere condolences. I had the pleasure of working with Fred for several years. Will always remember his love for the campus, devotion to landscape architecture, consideration for others, and hearty sense of humor.

I am so sorry for you loss Margaret. My prayers are with you. I / we will see you on Saturday.

Marg,

You have my deepest sympathy. He was my pal.

Margaret and family please accept our sincere condolences. We just read about Fred's passing. Our late father, Robert Charles West used to work with Fred many years ago. Our late father died November 26, 1999. We're very sorry for your loss. God Bless your family. May your memories help you through this difficult time.

Dearest Warnke Family
Im so SORRY to hear of Fred's passing. He is a GREAT husband, father and grandpa.
I remember alot of fun and laughter when I had the pleasure of many sleepovers with Kathy. His door was always open to Kathy's friends. He lives on in our hearts. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
