Genette Rogers Spann HARTSVILLE - Funeral service for Mrs. Genette Rogers Spann of Hartsville will be 1 p. m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Bishopville. Rev. Dr. Jerome Douglas, Pastor. Burial will follow in Sandy Grove United Methodist Church directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. Mrs. Spann died Friday, May 10th at her residence. She was born in Darlington County a daughter of the late Robert and Carrie L. Damon Rogers. She was educated in the Darlington County public schools. At an early age, she was a member of Sandy Grove United Methodist Church; later she joined Liberty Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include: her husband, Thomas S. Spann; one daughter, Regina Spann (Eddie) Steadman; two sons, Corey Spann and Cedric (Yolanda) Spann; 3 grandchildren she reared as her own: Marketta, Zaria and Maurice McTillman; 3 brothers: Robert L. Rogers, Eric Damon and Leroy (Louvenia) Damon; grandchildren: Courtney, Lacy, Logan, Cedric Jr. and Khali; 2 aunts: Corine Robinson and Jessie Mae Mixon; 3 uncles: Levell (Thomasina) Damon, Purvis George, Jr. and Julius Rogers; 3 cousins reared as sisters: Bernice Price, Bernette McCoy and Jessie Damon; sisters and brothers-in-law; two god children: Zykia and Demetrious; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two grand-children: Eddie and Erin. The family is receiving friends at the residence, 322 Marlboro Avenue, Hartsville.
