Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors Inc Obituary

George Lehman, 78, died peacefully April 19th, 2018, at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy Lehman; his daughters, Georgia (Neil) Enslow and Julie (Dustin) Taylor; four grandchildren, Shawnna Fanning, Wesley Fanning, Caleb Taylor and Aaron Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Andilee & Jamison; his sisters, Sandra Hoppe of Oviedo, FL & Patricia Lehman of Harker Heights, TX; many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Savada Lehman; brothers, Bill (Marlene) Wallace & Tom Wallace; brothers-in-law, Charles "Buddy" Hoppe and Kenneth Miller; nieces, Kathy Mower and Kelly Tilly; and nephew, Billy Wallace. He was born on December 19th, 1939, in Cherryville, MO and moved to La Junta, CO in 1943 and then to Pueblo in 1947. George was a barber for 36 years. He was only 15 years old when he went to barber school, fibbing about his age to get in. When he was 24, he joined the Navy and was called “old man” in basic training. He was honorably discharged in 1965. He was part owner, operator of the Esquire Barber Shop on 24th & Grand in Pueblo for many years. He was baptized at the age of 41 along with daughter, Julie, and great-nephew, Trevor, at the Pueblo Reservoir by Pastor Art Miller. He loved the Lord and we are confident he is basking in the glory of heaven right now. Our Mom, Judy, was the love of his life, they were married 49 years. When Dad retired, he always helped to care for the grandkids and his mom. He spent quality time with his brother, Tom, and good friend, Ben Williams. He was a Life Member of Elks #90, American Legion - Ovie Vernon Post #2 and Silver State #95 as a Master Mason. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, car racing and beer drinking. He was a very kind and loving man, we will miss his gentle sprit. A special thank you to the staff and caregivers at Sangre de Cristo Hospice who helped us care for him the past three and a half weeks at home. Vince, Diane, Yudit, Carolina and Amanda (George’s great niece) truly blessed him and our family. If you wish to make a memorial donation, please consider this wonderful organization; Sangre de Cristo Hospice, 1207 Pueblo Blvd. Way, Pueblo, CO 81005. George proudly served in the US Navy and the family requests those attending his service wear patriotic colors. The celebration of his life will be on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. in the Montgomery Steward Chapel with Pastor Josh Richardson officiating. After the service, please join the family for a reception. Online condolences and full obituary, www.MontgomerySteward.com
