Gervis Landry Obituary

Gervis "Dudee" CJ Landry, age 82, of Pierre Part, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023. Gervis "Dudee" was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. You could often find "Dudee" in the morning or in the afternoon hanging out at Duffy's. He had a passion for cooking and feeding everyone, if you went over to his house you would not leave hungry. "Dudee" also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and doing electrical work. His most proud moments were spent with his family and talking about his grandchildren whom he adored so much. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of fifty seven years, Valerie Breaux Landry; three children, Elizabeth "Liz" Smith, Garry Pierre Landry (Noelle), and Danielle Landry; five grandchildren, Beau Prejean (Alexis), Ava Landry, Elise Smith, Eden Landry, and Owen Smith; two great-grandchildren, Riley Prejean and Peyton Prejean; four siblings, Duffy Landry (Myrtle), Audrey Michel (Winston), Diane Lakey (James Paul), and Norris Landry (Donna) and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edmond Sr. and Elidia Landry and nine siblings, Odette Landry, Noeline LeBlanc, Amelie Daigle, Louise Blanchard, Noelie LeBlanc, Nicholas Landry, Edmond Landry Jr., Lawrence Van Alleman and Curtis Landry. A visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Pierre Part, LA, on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 8:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church Mausoleum at 12 pm with interment in the church mausoleum. Please consider this as an extension of my Sincere Condolences and Heartfelt Sympathy to the entire family of long time ago friend and fellow soldier, Gervis Landry. I served for the US Army from May, 1964 -- May, 1966, and during this time Gervis and served together for some time. During some of service one of our permanent station assignment was in Spangdalhem, Germany. I truly enjoyed knowing Gervis and spending some time with him.

I found out about his passing by accident . . . I was too late in trying to reach him to inform him that I would be traveling to Louisiana this coming August and that I was planning on looking him up.

Unfortunately, I learned of his passing through some phone conversations that I had with a very congenial member of his family . . . Ms. Beverly Mabile. Thank you so much for your kindness in conveying the loss of your uncle to me. He will continue to be a fond memory in my life.

May the entire Landry family be blessed during their time of sorrow and beyond, and may the peace of God be with all of you.
