Grace Hall Obituary
Grace Hall
December 23, 1922 - October 28, 2025
Santa Clarita - It is with deepest sadness that the family of Grace A. Hall announces the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
A longtime resident of Santa Clarita, CA, Grace Audrey (Baumgarner) Hall died October 28th, 2025 at the age of 102.
Grace, the 3rd child of 11, was born on Dec. 23, 1922, in Streator, Illinois, to Vernon and Lena Baumgarner. The family moved to Deer River, Minnesota, when she was a young girl. After graduating high school, she moved to Streator, Illinois, to live with her grandparents. Grace worked as a seamstress at Streator Clothing Co., making men's suits, and soon bought her first car, a Model A.
In 1947, her best friend and her husband stopped by to say goodbye before moving to California. Instead of leaving alone, the couple convinced Grace to pack her bags, and they all headed to Los Angeles. She got a job at the U.S. VA Bureau Hospital in Sylmar, working in building 41. Grace rapidly made new friends and enjoyed spending time with them and exploring the sights of California.
Shortly after moving to California, Grace was introduced to James T. Hall (Tate). At the age of 25, Grace married Tate on March 13, 1948. They made their home in Santa Clarita and started their family. Grace and Tate raised four children, and she loved spending time with her family, whether fishing, waterskiing, or taking vacation trips to Colorado and Minnesota and stopping at tourist sites along the way.
In later years, Grace enjoyed bowling, bunco, creating stained-glass artwork, and spending time with her friends and family. Grace was active in the church and made many lifelong friends. She found great comfort and happiness in helping others and donating to various charities.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Widner (Roger); her grandsons, James Hall (Diane) and Jeremy Hobbs; her great-grandchildren, Bree-Ann Castillo (Oscar), Tyler Hall, and Brenden Hall; and her great-great-grandchild, Axel Castillo.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, James 'Tate' Hall; her sons, James David Hall, Steven Taylor Hall, and Ronald Glenn Hall; her parents, Vernon and Lena (Evangeline) Baumgarner; her brothers, Gilbert, Stanford, Sherby, and Robert; and her sisters, Vera, Vivian, Faye, Betty, Joyce, and Janice.
Funeral service will be held at Eternal Valley Memorial Park & Mortuary, in The Oaks venue at 23287 Sierra Hwy, Newhall, CA 91321, at 10:00 AM, on November 13th, 2025.
