GRACE MASTRANGELO Obituary

GRACE F. MASTRANGELO, 81, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012, at her home, Fort Wayne. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she graduated from Lady Cliff College and worked at Irving Trust Company, New York, N.Y., retiring in 1957. She was a Purdue University Master Gardener and a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, where she served as a Liturgical Minister. She also was a member of Christ Child Society, Fort Wayne Medical Society Alliance, a Lady of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre, and past chairperson of Trillium Garden Club. She volunteered with the Foellinger Conservatory, St. Vincent dePaul Society and Lawton Park Greenhouse. She was a recipient of Bishop Dwenger High School Citizen of Two Worlds Award and the Red Cross Annual Stewardship Award. She loved flowers, spending time with her husband, grandchildren, traveling, and gardening. She was a generous philanthropist and fund raiser. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dr. Michael J. (for whom she was a loving and supporting companion); children, Nina (Jerry Wellman) Mastrangelo of Santa Fe, N.M., Paula (Bill O'Neill) Mastrangelo of Cary, N.C., Dr. Michael J. (Mary Katherine) Mastrangelo Jr. of Bend, Ore., and Vincent (Kathleen) Mastrangelo of Birmingham, Mich.; and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Sophie (Ferrante) Rinella; and infant children, Maryann, Patricia, Angelo and Anthony. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
