Jack C. OVERSTREET

Burke, Virginia

Guest Book

Not sure what to say?

He was my mentor in the Florida Senate, and my friend. Everything he taught me, I use to this day.

"O" was the kind of teacher everyone deserves--passion for his subject and compassion for his students. He gave us a love of poetry that is with me still. He will be missed.
Carol Quigg Mendenhall, Class of 1968

Mr. Overstreet was the best teacher I ever had. He literally changed my life. I had arrived in mid-year of my freshman year and he reached out to me and encouraged me in so many ways. Even though I did not pursue journalism as a career, I became Editor of the RHS newsletter and served on the yearbook committee. Mr. O was kind, talented, and brilliant. I will never forget him.
God Bless he and his family.
Debbie (Jordan) Noel

"O" my favorite teacher of all time.

What a surprise when I saw a painting in my sister's home done by Betts (note to Betts: my sister is Lee, H £ H in Havana) proving the small world we do live in.

Thank you O. I learned so much from you.

Rest in Peace,

Cat Cathy Thro Floyd - RHS 68 the Best Year Book Ever!

Somehow you so easily saw light shining in us, then helped it glow brighter. You gifted us light.

I still believe in the poetry we wrote. Thank you for encouraging us to search for light in the dark.

When I look back on the people who were a major influence in my life, O is right there at the top of the list. He was a great teacher, mentor and friend. Sad to see him go, but so happy and honored to have known him. And definitely one cool cat. Hey O!

Mr O encouraged intellectual rigor and to know why you believe what you believe, and he helped me grow, we loved him

Mr. O was a GREAT teacher and an inspiration to me.
