“Betty Jo & the Prater family, I just now learned of Jack's passing. I really enjoyed knowing & working with Jack @ VT, as well as being your neighbor a few years before we moved to Clemson. Jack was a great ambassador for VT & the Hokie Nation has truly lost a great person ! Our thoughts & prayers are with you & all the family.
“Dear Mrs. Prater (Betty Jo), Molly, Steve, Family, and Friends, I was shocked to see of Mr Prater's (Jack's) passing. Seems like only yesterday he was the Eternal Hokie ! I remember in the 60's and 70's and 80's coming to Tech games, the college, and more, that y'all always treated me (spoiled me?) With treats and listening and made me feel special coming to games, then Tech, and afterwards. The last time we spoke was probably a few Christmas party's ago and I have fond memories. Peace be...
“Steve & family,
Sorry for your loss. Thinking about you all. Enjoyed seeing your dad at Hokie Club events, always a joy to be around & proud of his children & grandchildren.
“Prater Family---I am living in Minnesota this summer and just accessed the Roanoke times to learn that Jack has passed away. Dempsey and I are so sad for you. The photo with the obituary is exactly how I remember him.
“Molly, Your Dad was such a nice and caring person, I am so sorry for your loss. Treasure your memories of your Dad and he will always be by your side.
“Our prayers are with you in your loss.
“Molly, I am so sorry for your loss. I have heard such wonderful stories about your dad over the years. He and my dad crossed paths when they attended VT and then played each other in PCC/BCC senior golf matches during their retirement years. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May your many memories bring you peace and comfort during this difficult time.
“Molly & Family,
Sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. I hope it comforts you to know that your friends are thinking and praying for you during this difficult time. God Bless!
