To Jim, Anne, John, and all of the Jeffries grandchildren: Jim Jeffries was a one-of-a-kind American original. I was fortunate to know him for more than twenty years. We met quarterly at Harper's Restaurant for cold Red Oaks and hot chow. Over time we solved most of mankind's and God's problems. He was a fiercely proud Marine and it certainly showed--both sons served in the Corps and his daughter married a Marine. It doesn't get any better than this. We exchanged emails regularly and...

To Jimmy, John, Anne and the family. I was shocked and saddened to hear of your dad's passing. Your father was my daily mentor at the Department of Justice for 8 years. Not a day went by without my learning something from him. And, it was not just legal; your dad joked, he kidded, and most of all, he lived honesty and integrity. He graced my and my wife's wedding with his presence (which was considerable at over 6'), and he and I continued to stay in touch over all the many years since...
