R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home - Hampton Obituary

James ?Jim? Lukas Jr, 54, of Buckroe Beach, decided he had deep fried his last Rockfish on Sunday, March 15th, 2015. Born in Buffalo, NY, he came to his senses and moved to Buckroe Beach 35 years ago where he met his match and wife of 31 years, Dede. He was the founder and owner of Lukas Painting Inc. Jim busted his hump into a beautiful home on the water where he enjoyed fishing, oystering, being with his family and entertaining and belittling his many friends. Jim loved life, and now he?s gone to a better place, where he impatiently awaits his antagonist of 31 years, Dede, his son Jimmy, mother Ellen, sisters Jill, Lynn, Susie and Beth, brother Bill and his in-laws, the Mardis family. Jim?s obnoxiously large clan of loving ?loozah" extended family and friends will miss him dearly.
His family will be receiving guests at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in Hampton, VA from 1:00- 2:00pm on Saturday, March 21st with memorial service to follow. The family requests that you come as you are, in casual attire.
In lieu of flowers, you may make donations in his memory to lifenethealth.org or alz.org (Alzheimers? Association).

OMGosh! Where do I start. First of all, Dede and Jimmy, I would like to express how sorry I am for the loss of your husband, a great father, and a great provider. To the entire Lukas/ Mardis family, my heart goes out to you all and I say this with much love.
Jim had such a huge presence about him when he walked into a room. A stranger to no one. If you did not see him first, you could damn sure hear him! Wow, what a friend I had in this man. What a hard worker. I know this first hand. I...

To the Lukas Family,
I will miss Jim riding by the house daily with his grim and smile. I will always refect on my memories we build as friend and family. Words can't express what I feel. May God hold you close
