Rick, please accept my condolences. Joann was a special grace in my life. I worked in the Art & Architecture Library from 1978 - 1982, and I spent a great deal of time there while I completed my Master of Architecture. She was a strong maternal influence in my life, accepting my antics of decorating the library for April Fool's Day, offering advice after I lost my father and attending one of my crits, a smiling face during a rather tense jury. Mrs. Olson (why is it that, oh so many years later, it is so hard to refer to one's childhood friend's parents by their first names?) was a sweet and gentle soul who navigated the most heart-breaking times -- losing Jenny, losing Dr. Olson -- with grace and steadfast faith. Rick and the rest of her family are being held close in the hearts of our Oxford community.

Rick, "Aunt Joann" was so special to me all my life. We've been like family and will continue to be. Hope to be seeing you in the very near future. Always keeping you in prayer.
