I was saddened by the news of John's death. We worked together at the Fannie Mae Foundation many years ago. John was kind, funny and an all-around great guy. May he rest in peace.

We will all miss John! He was a very complicated person; intelligent, witty, loyal, and brave. A faithful witness to what he saw as issues of justice and compassion. We were so happy when he found love and then, marriage to someone who was his equal and constant supporter. My deepest sympathies to John's family and to John Sykes.

I had not seen John since 2005 or so, but I did get to enjoy his wit several times a week via Facebook. I will miss your advocacy and humanity. Always, Theresa (former Fannie Mae colleague)

John was so nice and quick witted. He was so easy to work with and also willing to lend a hand. We lost contact after he left Fannie Mae. But recently connected at a Neighborworks training. Still the same lovely gentleman. My condolences to his family and friends.
