I only heard of John's passing the other day and was saddened to hear the news. What a fine gentleman he was to work with at Marine Atlantic and he always enjoyed a Lassy Mog cookie..even if they were store-bought!! My deepest condolences to you and your family.

Dear Mrs Lochhead & Family,
I was just reading the obituaries online in the Greenock Telegraph & I was shocked to read of John's passing. John was my journeyman in Kincaid's in 1969 & he taught me a lot. He had a great sense of humour & time passed quick in his company especially if you were doing an 'all nighter' in the James Watt dock.
Please accept my condolences at this sad time.

Helen, Gillian and James, I was so saddened to hear of John's passing. I had the pleasure of working with John at Marine Atlantic, he was a fine gentleman with a wonderful sense of humor. He spoke fondly of his family and shared many enjoyable stories. My thoughts are with you at this time, he will be greatly missed.

John and I were good friends when apprentices at J G Kincaids. I left Greenock in 1965 and that was the last time I met John. He was fitting out a BP tanker and I was one of the ship's engineers. Over the years I often recalled the good times we had and wondered where he was, so it is with sadness I read his obituary on the on line edition of the "Tele." I have photographs of John and myself in Princess Street Gardens in Edinburgh taken in the early 60's. We had come there on holiday at the Greenock Fair.
I would like to send my condolences to all of you at this sad time.

Helen and family, please accept our most sincere condolences on John's passing. Carm is in Newfoundland now or we would be there with you. It will not be the same next year, in Myrtle Beach without John's great sense of humor and wit. Always cherish the time you have with your loved ones. Life is too short but hopefully we all live our lives like John to instill great friendships along the way. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. A wee drop of Scotch raised in his honor at the golf course will probably be in order. Hope he is watching.
