“I was saddened to learn of John's death this morning when I picked up my South Dakota Bar Newsletter. John and I became friends competing against each other in high school forensics. I last saw him when he was processing in cap and gown to receive his degree from Yale. I was passing through on my way to do the same at Harvard. Through the years I followed his career with...

“John was a long time great friend of mine since grade school. He loved to learn and enjoy life. John was known to read an encyclopedia between shots playing pool. My sincere condolences to all his family. I and many others will be diminished without him. Andy Severson
