Not sure what to say?

Pat,

I just heard about Joe's passing and was heartbroken. My Dad (Paul) taught with Joe at W&L and as a young teenager I always looked forward to seeing Joe when I would visit my Dad at school. He helped to paint a couple of my muscle cars back in the day as well. Joe and I actually spoke for a bit back in April of 2009 shortly after my Dad passed. Here is Joe's entry in my Dad's guestbook which says everything you need to know about Joe - "I sure am sorry to be so late...

Pat, my prayers and thoughts are with you and your family in the loss of Joe. He was one of the nicest people and the two of you were a great couple. I will continue to pray for you and your family.

Dearest Joe, my first and only junior high school sweetheart, my best friend and my soul mate. We share 42 wonderful years in marriage; had 2 great kids and 6 wonderful grand kids. We did everything has a family and sharing vacations with friends at the beach, camping, time sharing, boating, etc. There is not much we did not do. My bed is empty now, there is no one there to watch tv with me...the dogs have taken over your side of the bed....my days and nights are not the same. There is a...

JOE HERE I AM AGAIN TRYING TO PULL MYSELF TOGETHER, HONESTLY, ITS HARDER THAN EVER WITHOUT YOU HERE. YOU WERE MY FIRST TRUE LOVE, BEST FRIEND AND SOUL MATE. ITS HELL WITHOUT YOU BUT I KNOW YOU ARE NOW IN A BETTER PLACE. yOU ARE PROBABLY UP THERE TEACHING AND TELLING JOKES. I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER AND EVER. THE DOGS ARE STILL LOOKING FOR YOU. REST IN PEACE MY LOVE.

Dear Steph and family my thoughts and prayers are with all of you and thank you for being such a good friend. Love Evelyn Botkin

We are so sorry to hear about the passing of a great guy. Joe was full of fun and laughter. He grabbed every brass ring in life and lived it to the fullest. He was all about family and friends. The world is a better place because he was in it. Take care Tish and thanks for sharing your "soulmate" with us.

To Friends and Family - This man was your uncle, cousin, teacher, joke teller and most of all; your friend. I know this all to be true because I am one that thought of Joe as a father figure to me since 1988 when I first met him and became best friends with his one and only daughter Stephanie.

To Tish - I know you already know this … but – you were so lucky to spend all those years with this man. There are few and far couples that can stay together through all the THICK and...

I almost forgot. God Bless Nancy, the lady from Hospice for taking care of my buddy in his final days. YOU are truly an ANGEL here on earth. THANK YOU!
