Joseph Patrick McDonough of Shanghai, West Virginia, died
Sunday, January 21, 2007, in Winchester Medical Center, Winchester,
Virginia.
Mr. McDonough was born March 17, 1932, in Newark, New Jersey,
the son of the late Joseph Francis and Dorothy Cheney McDonough. He was
an Engineer for the Corps of Engineers, retiring in 1989, after nineteen
years of service. He was a graduate of Newark College of Engineering,
receiving a Bachelors of Electrical Engineering. Mr. McDonough was a
veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1950 -1954, achieving
the rank of Quartermaster 1st Class.
He married Patricia Ann Winslow, on August 13, 1955, in
Falconer, New York.
Surviving with his wife of fifty one years, are his children,
Steven McDonough of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, Susan Beaudway of
Winchester, Virginia, Michael McDonough of Shanghai, West Virginia, Mary
McDonough of Adamstown, Maryland, James McDonough of Lovettsville,
Virginia, Brian McDonough of Purcellville, Virginia, Erin McDonough of
Key West Florida; fifteen grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Two brothers, Robert McDonough and Richard McDonough preceded him in
death.
A memorial service will be conducted at 5:00 PM on Friday,
February 9, 2007, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Pastors
Robert and Jean Blevins officiating. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 9, 2007,
prior to the service, from 4:00-5:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst
Chapel.
