Kenneth Rosen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 28, 2017.

Kenneth Rosen was born in Ione, Washington on June 21st 1936 to Harry and Gladys Rosen. He lived in Metaline and Kettle Falls Washington, as well as in California. He was one of two children, he is survived by his brother A. Eugene Rosen who still lives in California.

Ken survived childhood polio and cancer by the time he went to boot camp for the Marines which he finished, but due to his eye scar he was discharged. He came home to Kettle Falls where he married his first wife Naomi (deceased) with whom he had five children. He worked in mills and as a logger at this time. He was a scout leader and a boxing coach. He and Naomi divorced.

Ken married M.Juanita Michael (deceased) in 1975. They lived in the Colville and Kettle Falls Washington for the 25 years of their marriage. M.Juanita had three children when they married. They had four more children. Ken coached and mentored many young men and women, his extra kids during his lifetime. M.Juanita passed away in October 2000.

Ken moved into Spokane the following spring to start new adventures. He met Arleen and married her in October 2001. Arleen had four grown children. They lived in Airway Heights until they moved to the Colville area. They lived right outside of Northport, Washington for 13 years. They had great adventures camping and fishing.

In June of this year Arleen was diagnosed with Small Cell lung cancer. Her daughter Deedee was blessed to have her stay with them for 3 weeks while going through treatment. And while chemotherapy and radiation were still going on, daughters Karmen, Lynn and Kendra, got Ken and Arleen moved back to Airway Heights so they could be closer to Arleen’s appointments and have Ken back with her. They were able to have about a month or so together before her passing on August 26th.

Ken was heartbroken but determined to not let her passing break him. His daughters Karmen and Kendra took care of him while he was grieving. He was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital on September 12th. He was diagnosed with pneumonia caused by aspirating. He was in the hospital with either, Karmen and her husband Shawn, Kendra or Arleen’s daughter Donne’l by his side the entire time. He was able to go home with hospice so he could be home with his cats. He passed away at his home in the early morning of September 25th.

The children he had with Naomi are Kathy (Bob) Gessner, Keith Rosen, Kent (Lynnette) Rosen, Dana Cox (deceased), Darla Charlton (deceased). The children M.Juanita brought to their marriage are Rodney Bye, Rhonda Bye Hensler(deceased), Ryan Bye(deceased). Ken and M.Juanita had Lynn (Larry) Tolva, Kendra (Pat) McHale, Karmen (Shawn) Greene & Kevin Rosen together. Arleen’s children are Danita (Deedee) Allison (Norm Bonnet), Jeffery (Jeff) Richardson (Steve Conway), Donne’l (Mark Beat), Christopher (Chris) Rainville (Tammy Rainville) and David Rainville (deceased). With so many children there are many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with the rest of the family who will miss Ken and Arleen very much.

He will be remembered for having an odd sense of humor, a determination for things to be done his way, for being an awesome father and coach, and lover of life and boxing. It is sad that Ken and Arleen passed away so close to each other. Ken loved Arleen so much, and now he is with her dancing in the clouds.

I'm really missing you dad. It was hard for me yesterday not being able to pick up the phone to call you and Arleen. It all still seems unreal to me. We donated lots to kiddos for Christmas just like you wanted. The kitties are all doing fine. Lots of loves and hugz being sent to you and Arleen in heaven.
