Lee Albert, "AB" Drake, 71, of Rigby, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Dec. 2, 1938, in Lorenzo, Idaho, to Ira Albert Drake and Nettie Perry Drake. He attended Rigby Elementary School and Rigby Junior High School. He enlisted in the Army National Guard in August 1961. He was a master carpenter and brick layer. He worked several jobs, making many lifelong friends along the way. He never married but did have a long-term relationship and friendship with Maxine Anderson of Rigby.

AB was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, four-wheeling and spending time with his family and especially his three wonderful grandchildren, Colby Atkinson, 17, Caden Atkinson, 12, and Caylee Atkinson, 10. He also had a special connection with their dog, Stormy.

Survivors include his forever friend, Maxine Anderson of Rigby; children, Lana (Vern) Atkinson of Archer and Cindy (Dennis) Gilson and Monte (Brandy) Anderson, both of Rigby; siblings, Paul (Luella) Drake and Marsha Jean Drake, both of Rigby; grandchildren, Colby, Caden and Caylee Atkinson of Archer, Denise (Justin) Harrison of Rexburg and Michael Gilson and John and Blake Anderson, all of Rigby; two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Hattie Harrison of Rexburg; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Francis and Elwin Drake; and a sister, Verla Hoopes.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 15, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St. in Rigby. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Annis-Little Butte Cemetery under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com.
