Lillian Frances Simmerman
Born in Lorimor Iowa June 23, 1930 to Robert Everett Henry and Lillian Francis Bradshaw. Lillian Frances Henry grew up on a farm.
At the Lorimor County Fair, Dad, Gerald William Simmerman, had been watching her dance and asked to walk her home. After dating a year and a half they married, worked a farm, raising four children Dennis, Colleen, Gary and Linda. They sold the farm and moved the family to southern California. Mom said it was probably the best move they ever made.
She took a grocery checkers class at Long Beach City College and the family moved to Whittier where she checked groceries at Alpha Beta market. Dad was working at LA Paper Box in 1962, where a couple of guys Dad worked with told him about a copper mine where their dad worked in Bagdad Arizona. Dad, wanting to get the family out of the big city, moved them to Bagdad. Mom worked at and later managed the Copper Market until the store was sold in 1984.
The whole family was baptized at Hilltop Community Church where she was active until they bought, and she managed, the Meadview Market at Lake Mead, where they often spent weekends camping, skiing, and fishing.
At Meadview Mom served on the board of trustees and contributed her great cooking for pot luck dinners and took food to shut-ins for the Meadview Community Church. Mom and Dad travelled in their RV to Montana, Alaska, Florida, and Houston.
After Dad passed, Mom moved with Gary and Shirley to Pinetop Arizona where she was in a care facility. Many of the staff members there told us, 'We just love your Mom'. She passed away peacefully at 95 years old. She will be missed. Love you Mom, See you soon.
Lillian had four children, nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren and was preceded in death by her husband Gerald, her daughter Linda and her granddaughter Michelle.
She will be deeply missed by all those that loved her.
