Mark Shuler MeHaffey, 59, of Saxapahaw, North Carolina, passed away at his home on October 21, 2025.
Mark was born in Asheville, North Carolina, on January 30, 1966, to Joe and Becky MeHaffey. Mark and
his family later moved to Morristown, Tennessee, where Mark grew to be a Big Orange football super fan.
Mark graduated from Ooltewah High School in 1984, eventually moving back to North Carolina and
following his father's footsteps into the textile industry. Later, after graduating from the University of North
Carolina at Greensboro, Mark began his career in sales - the work that he was born to do.
The lights of Mark's life were his three children, Katy, Shuler and Dillie, and four granddaughters, Mel,
Layla, Kinley and Allie. Mark never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. Mark also cherished
his close relationships with his big brother Joe and his litter sister Tinkerbell, as well as with his nephews
Trey and Wil, niece Tiffany and other extended family. Mark was a family man and was happiest among
those he loved.
Mark never met a stranger; he was incredibly charismatic and drew people to him with his humor and love
of life. He was devoted to his friends and they to him - a good measure of a life well lived.
Mark was predeceased by his parents, Joe Howell MeHaffey, Sr., and Lois Rebecca Shuler MeHaffey. He is
survived by his children Katy Wells Alston (Andre), Mark Shuler MeHaffey, II, and Dylan Taylor MeHaffey;
granddaughters Melandie Janice Whitaker, Layla Amille Mack, Kinley Marcella Mack and Allie Elizabeth
Alston; brother Joe Howell MeHaffey, Jr. (Tammy) and sister Laura Beth Blackard (Butch); nephews Joe
Howell MeHaffey, III, and Wil Butler MeHaffey (Megan); niece Tiffany Paige Blackard (fiancé Keith); and
several cousins and other extended family members.
