Not sure what to say?

I had the extreme honor of meeting Marti when she applied to be a University Supervisor at Aurora University. The interview was hardly a screening to see if Marti would be a good fit for the position. The interview turned out to be primarily getting to know a very gifted, talented educator who could, hands down, direct the program I was overseeing at the time. Marti was a tireless, dedicated colleague who ensured that well prepared teachers earned a license. I'll never forget her natural...

To Marti's Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Marti and I were friends from Jr. & Sr. High School as well as neighbors on Thompson St. in Sullivan, IN. We had lots of good times together through all those years. We had a great visit just a few weeks before her passing. I will always hold onto our memories together. Love to all the family.

Mrs. Knowles was my 3rd grade teacher at Sherrard ~1979. I LOVED her! Then I had the privilege of having her as my 5th grade teacher too! It was like hitting the lottery! She was truly my favorite teacher. She was so loving and caring and just a wonderful person. Sherrard was very luck to have her for so long. We were better because of her and her commitment to her students. I will always have wonderful sweet memories of her reading Little House on the Prairie to our class. She truly...

To Marti's Family, She made a difference to everyone who knew her in the Sherrard School District. She helped me follow my dream to become a teacher by allowing me to be a HS aide in her class room back in the seventies, then she was a peer who could be trusted for sound advice and gone to when you needed a smile..she had thee most beautiful smile... She was also my children's teacher and my respect for her only grew as I could see how she taught my children. She was dedicated! I will...

Marti was such a ball of energy and vitality, she will be greatly missed. I worked with Marti at Sherrard Grade for many years. My memories are of a wonderful teacher who was so giving and capable. Although it has been years since I have spoken with her, I have such a sense of loss. She left a loving hand print on so many hearts.

May God's peace be with you.

I am so sorry for you loss. I knew Marti through our teaching days in East Aurora and also through DKG. She was a caring and dedicated lady whom I greatly admired as a professional educator. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time.
With sincere sympathy,
Pamela Rhoads

I was another one who was fortunate enough to have Mrs. Knowles as my fifth grade teacher at Sherrard Grade School. She was the teacher who made a difference in my life. She was a wonderful teacher and person and I am so sad to see of her passing. I guess heaven needed a great teacher. God bless you Mrs. Knowles, you made a impact my education and my life and I thank you for it.

I was fortunate to have Mrs. Berg (or Knowles as I remember her) as a 4th grade teacher at Sherrard Elementary 22 years ago. I am a teacher now and she is someone I think of as a great example of what a teacher should be-enthusiastic, supportive, and kind. I consider myself fortunate to have been able to learn from one of the best.

Dear Dick:
I am very sorry to hear about Marti. I will always have fond memories of you talking about your wonderful trips with Marti to Mexico.
My sincere condolences to you and your family.
Love,
Tish Roppo/GBTC
