Not sure what to say?

I've written a story about Mary for UNO.

Mary was a dear and long time friend to me. She and I first met in 1976 when I was trying to decide between attending UNL or UNO. After meeting Mary, I chose UNO because she took the time to really listen to me and to explain the UNO journalism program to me. She was my academic advisor and professor for several of the journalism courses I completed. Mary was a gifted teacher and she loved her profession and she shared that enthusiasm with her students.
I moved away from Omaha in...

I just discovered Mary's passing and wanted express my respect for this amazing woman. I knew Mary many years ago while working as an artist at UNO. When Mary asked to bring her advertising class to my drawing table for a brief field trip, I was nervous. There was no telling Mary “no,” and I felt honored to be a small part of her class that day. I worked with Mary many times on University projects and found her to be a brilliant woman who I admired. Because of my interactions with Mary,...

My daughter at UN-L and son at Creighton have been trying to reach Mary to see her before coming home for Christmas. I found the answer in the World Herald...

Mary was my friend, mentor, and inspiration for living a purposeful life. She was no-nonsense, compassionate, and above all, one of the most intelligent people I've ever known.

When I saw her earlier this year, her eyes were fading in ability, but the sparkle of intellectual curiosity, wit, and challenge was still...

Mary had no family, but she had many, many friends. She was an amazing woman with many talents. She pioneered flying for women during WWII. She served in many capacities in the academic world. She provided advice to many.
I knew her best as a lover of animals. I recall fondly driving with Mary in her Saab to adopt another dog at Hearts United for Animals. She wanted a companion for her Meryl and Marky. She chose another standard poodle and named him Mo (another name beginning with...

I did not know of Mary until today (12/8/12), when I visited Hearts United for Animals to add another dog to my home. I went intending to bring home another, but the instant I saw Mo, I knew he must come home with my other Poodles! I am honored and blessed to be Mo's second 'mom', and I will strive to make Mary proud!
Thank you Mary!

Mary was a good neighbor and she will be missed.

Mary was my close friend for all the years we have lived in the same neighborhood. I already miss her terribly. I attach a picture, supplied by Jody Carrigan, of Mary at the dedication of the WASP memorial in Lincoln.

Mary lived life to the fullest! She had so many friends from all circles and kept active throughout her retirement always ready to help others. I was fortunate to have her as a friend and mentor during my career at UNO. She was a great fan of women's sports and all causes that enhanced opportunities for young women to succeed. Having Mary on our side made us all more confident and stronger as individuals.
Rest in Peace my friend.
