It is with great sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Matthew V. Mazeika, 53, a lifelong resident of the area and proud family man.
Matthew was born in Hartford , Connecticut and a graduate of South High School, where he made lasting friendships that stayed with him throughout his life. For the last 13 years, he was employed by Bunzl New England, where he took great pride in his work and his role as a union shop steward, always standing up for his coworkers and leading with integrity and dedication.
A true homebody at heart, Matthew found joy in simple pleasures—watching his beloved New England Patriots, spending time with family, and doting on his “grand dog,” Luna, who held a special place in his heart. He also enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and gardening. Matt was often in the kitchen but never had recipes for his cooking-just a little instinct and a lot of love, and somehow it always came out perfect.
Matthew leaves behind his devoted wife and best friend of 34 years, Michelle, his cherished daughter, Kayla, and his beloved son, Ryan. He is also survived by his sister Kristen Mazeika; sister-in-law Tracy Gleason; brothers-in-law Kevin Gleason, and Craig Berthiaume and his wife Amy; his mother-in-law Irene Berthiaume; his father-in-law Bill Berthiaume; his niece Elizabeth Lauder; as well as many aunts, uncles, and good friends who will deeply miss him.
Family and friends are welcomed to a celebration of Matt’s life with visiting hours Wednesday, November 5thfrom 4:00pm until 7:00pmwith a service immediately following at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. Burial will be private for the family.
Matthew will be remembered for his loyalty and the love he gave so freely to those around him. His passing leaves a hole in many hearts, but his spirit and kindness will live on in all who knew him.
