I did not know Mike well during the time we were both at Princeton in the late 1980s, but I had the great privilege of working with him on a recording project, along with Will McKenna and Joel Bassuk. I will never forget MIke's truly incredible voice, piano playing, and spirit. Despite not having seen him or heard his music for 25 years, I can vividly remember his sound and presence to this day, especially his wonderful vocal and piano rendition of the song "Sweet Potato Pie". Mrs. McCoy,
Until I moved to another state in 8th grade, Mike and I were in most of the same classes together. He was one of the most intelligent, helpful, and talented individuals that I have had the pleasure of calling my friend. I am greatly saddened by his passing, but I have no doubt that in God's time we will see each other again and continue that friendship where it left off. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

My deepest condolences to Mike's mother and family. He was greatly loved at Princeton and his voice was so beautiful that I can still hear him singing. May the Lord keep you all in His warm embrace until you see your loved one again in paradise.
