I had the honor of being a student in several of Mr. Johnson's classes during my time at RHS. The nickname "Smiles" holds true. God bless you and your family.

Dear Ruth, Dane, Missy and Tim,
Mom told me of Mike's passing the other day. I am so sorry for your (and our's) loss. My most vivid memory of Mr. Johnson, (I had to call him "Mr." at school!) was right after Peter was born. Mom and Dad could not figure out a name for him. One day, Mr. Johnson pointed at Peter Kunkle and said "Why don't they name him Peter?" About a day later, I came to social studies class and said "You were right! They did name him...

I can honestly say that Coach was the most influential person in my life during those secondary education years. He encouraged those he taught to further their education. He was a role model that taught the basics of life. Hard work , integrity and dedication were his mainstays. Coach Mike influenced all those he came in contact with to be winners. He won a lot-on and off the field of friendly strife. I will never forget those days of the ''winged T offense':-) I will never forget...

Coach
Thanks for showing me how to play the game on the field and in life. You will be missed.

Team taught with Mike in 70's, the veteran was my worthy mentor. We had fun w student project for Patty Heart trial, students loved it as well as their teacher Mr Johnson. Teaming, mentoring, student involvement - a wonderful colleague.

Tim and family, sorry to hear of your loss. May you find comfort with your many family and friends.
