Columbia, South Carolina - Paul Finley Stewart, 64, died Friday morning October 29, 2021, with his wife, Kathy, by his side. Born in Fayetteville, NC, to Dr. Albert Stewart, Jr. and Mary DuBose Stewart, Paul was the third of five boys. After graduation from Elon College in 1981, he moved to Columbia to join his grandfather and uncle at DuBose – Stuckey Insurance, which later became part of Adams Eaddy & Associates. Family traditions were important to Paul, and he celebrated his Scottish heritage as an active member of the St. Andrews Societies of Columbia and of North Carolina. He was also a member of Forest Lake Club. He was an avid golfer and outdoorsman. He loved and was devoted to his family and friends. Paul lit up a room with his happy zest for life.
Paul was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Kathy; his two children, Finley of Charleston and Mary DuBose of Columbia; and Kathy's three children, Mary Kathryn Olsen (David) of Columbia, Braxton Taylor and Gantt Taylor both of Charleston.
He is also survived by his four brothers, Albert Stewart III (Robyn) of Hardeeville, SC; David D. Stewart (Jane) of Fayetteville, NC; Charles I. Stewart (Ashley) of Charlotte, NC; and James B. Stewart (Kathy) of Houston, TX; eight nieces and nephews; and Kathy's sister, Vicki Shull (Ken) of Goose Creek, SC.

To all of Paul's loved ones, I cannot fully express my sadness in hearing of Paul's passing. He was a friend beyond measure to me. We were schoolmates & close friends since 7th grade. We will miss him so much. His great personality was infectious and so fun. A part of me is lesser with his passing. My deepest condolences to all his friends and family. Rest easy Paul, you were a Great Guy!! -- Eddie Hurdle
