Rachel Geraldine Shipley Humphrey, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on Sunday March 17, 2019. She was born to Frank C. Shipley Sr. and Lola Ann Cast Shipley in Heavener, Oklahoma.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 48 years, Robert P. Humphrey; son, Marty Humphrey Sr.; grandchildren, Marty Humphrey Jr. and Tylor Humphrey; sisters, Kay Kelly and Quida Puckett; and brother, Edmond Shipley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Sr. and Lola Shipley; sister, Betty Shipley Hosmer; and brother, Frank Shipley Jr.
Rachel worked for over 25 years for Louisiana Bank and Trust, serving as an assistant manager before retiring. She enjoyed sports; playing basketball in high school and playing softball with the Louisiana Bank and Trust Team, and if you ask her, she was the best on the team. Rachel most of all loved spending time with her family and loved cooking Sunday dinners. She was a very determined, organized, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Fighting and surviving cancer four times throughout her life, she was a very strong person. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation for Rachel will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Shreveport Baptist Temple, 288 Flournoy Lucas Rd, Shreveport, Louisiana 71106. A celebration of life will occur Wednesday following the visitation, with Dr. Howard Hall officiating. An interment will occur Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Rd. after the conclusion of the service at the church.
