Not sure what to say?

I write this with appreciation for what Rob did for writers in presenting their work in the manner deserved. From the occasional times we corresponded on more than the practical details of a project, I found him to be the kind of imaginative person I'd have loved to have known better. The sum of his work with Parting Gifts and the press was truly impressive, for which I give my thanks.

Creative and kind and the kind of guy--
Whom we are happy to have met
And are unable to forget--
However much time may have gone by.

I worked with Rob for the many years he put in at the VA Hospital in Battle Creek. As others have said, he was a gentle creative soul. He will be missed.

From a former colleague at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center, God bless and we knew you as a good man and a nice guy.

I'm sorry I never got to meet Robert Bixby. Our acquaintance was via notes and e-mail. It was evident he cared about writing and writers, and I'm grateful he took on my book of poems. He'll be missed.

I had the enormous blessing of working with Rob at UNCG's Center for Youth, Family and Community Partnerships. A consummate professional in his work for NC Kids, one truly saw his brilliance and generosity and sense of humor if you we're lucky enough to be on his email list. His thoughts were insightful, unique, and never boring. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. You will be missed Rob.

Robert Bixby published my first book of poems. This was a great accomplishment for me, but what I remember most was the care he took to present my work to the world. I didn't know Robert very well but he affected my life in an extraordinary way and I know he has and will continue to be a force in American Poetry. My condolences to Mr. Bixby's family.

I met Rob when he joined NC Kids Adoption and Foster Care. He was always a strange, but gentle giant who would do anything for anyone. When our grant was rescinded, we each found other positions at UNCG and I didn't see him as often, but I was fortunate enough to continue to receive his wonderful emails. Rob had such an obtuse sense of humor and his emails would touch me or tickle me or confuse me or just make me wonder out loud. He was so proud and loving of Kathy and his family that I know...

Robert Bixby captured capturing the moment.

I'm going to miss you Sir, (Naked Daddy, Rob). The world is definitely a dumber place without you. I enjoyed our conversations in person and via e-mail about things most people don't talk about for fear of judgement. Your brilliance illuminated all topics. Your humble, understated wisdom reminded me of my own dad, that I lost in "03". I will always remember the "Fire Circle" which you so fondly named and your diligence at, and passion for capturing the essence of the...
