I knew Rob in Saudi and he always took the edge off a challenging place. We had some good smokes and plenty of sarcastic laughs together. A smashing bloke.

We worked together in Saudi Arabia, I considered Robert a friend. Sorry to hear about his passing. He was a funny guy who livened up a pretty hard place to live.

I was a colleague of Roberto's at King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. So sad to hear about his passing away. He had a unique outlook and always had something original to say about any situation. Funnily enough he was born seven days after me! Condolences to his family and friends. RIP Roberto. Best wishes, George Darley

Robert,my friend. You meant so much to me. The words here in the SunTimes describe you well. Im very proud to call you dear. You had great taste in music and shared that with me. In some ways you brought the world to me and helped me see it in a new a fascinating way. We managed to stay in touch in spite of the distance, although I wish I did a better job of that. I am deeply saddened I wont be able to see you or hear your voice anymore. You always made me laugh and you will remain in my heart...
