Rodolfo Cortinas Sr., 89, of West Tawakoni passed away on February 21, 2017. Rodolfo was born March 29, 1927 in Waco, Texas.

Rodolfo was preceded in death by his wife Tomasa Cortinas; his parents, Leopoldo and Maria Jesus Cortinas; brothers, Victor, Morris, Ben, George, Luis, Herman and Leo; sisters, Maria and Alifonsa. Rodolfo is survived by his children, Rudy Cortinas, Jr and his wife Elma; Cathy Goines and her husband Dale; grandchildren, Daniel Goines and wife Deanna, Karen Anthony and husband Jason, Amanda Cortinas, and Kevin Cortinas; great grandchildren, Keenan Goines, Maya Goines, Brittni Anthony, Tenilee Anthony, Tinlee Smith, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rudy Sr. worked for the Dallas Times Herald much of his adult life. When he retired, he and the love of his life, Tommie, moved to Lake Tawakoni where they built the house they lived in until their deaths. Rudy Sr. was the most fun loving, generous and humble person you would ever have known. He loved his family, his fishing and his poker nights with relatives and friends. He definitely left a mark with all he met. He will be sorely missed but always in our hearts.

Visitation and Prayer Service will be 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 in the Sparkman Crane Chapel.
Burial will follow at 3:30 at Calvary Hill Cemetery 3235 Lombardy Ln. Dallas, Tx 75220.

Rudy Jr. and family my thoughts and prayers are with ya'll in your time of grief.May your memories bring you comfort.I think you will notice that everyone's sentiments will be very similar,your Dad was a great man,he was one of a kind,he had a knack of opening his house and making you feel comfortable.Just someone you liked being around.Great listeners and could offer very sound advice .Pretty darn good fisherman and story teller as well .He will be missed .R.I.P.Uncle Rudy

My grandpa passed away on February 21, 2017. A day I will never forget. He was a father to me, He was my best friend, he was my mentor and my teacher, he was my GRANDPA! He was also my wife's Grandpa-pa. He taught me many things in life, one, how to treat a woman, how to be a gentleman. He also helped me get my first Mazda pick up truck with my Uncle negotiating the deal. It was amazing!! Another thing that is so vivid in my mind and one of those things I will never forget him saying almost everyday to me, "Be with the people that Love being with you!" This past summer was a true testament to those words, my wife and I had a chance to stay with Grandpa due to an unexpected curve ball life throws your way and things change in a heart beat, We noticed Grandpa was not up to his usual self needing little more help with life's daily issues. We slowly learned it was more serious that before we learned how sick Grandpa had become not knowing how much time we would have with him. Although it was challenging at times for everyone, we all took turns taking care of this man who once took care of us in his own home, a man of so much pride, a man that would do anything for absolutely anyone. The hardest part right now is accepting that Grandpa is in a much better place, that he is no longer in pain and that he is finally reuniting with the best grandmother any little boy could ask for. It's just really hard to accept but I do believe they are watching over us as our guardian Angels! Grandpa I can't believe you are gone but I know our day will come again. "A grandfather is a gift of love." "A grandfather is wisdom, love and dignity all wrapped up in one." "A grandfather is the bond that is never broken, no matter the circumstances." "One of the greatest joys of life is having your wife put a smile on your face when she makes your grandpa's favorite pork chop dinner and always ask if his tummy was happy and he responds with a YES SIR!" Spending Holiday dinners with my Grandpa at my In-laws whom graciously opened up their home and loved him just as much he loved them, Mrs Dorothy and Mr. Willy. I could not ask for anything more.
