If you got a chance to meet Comrade Guthrie, You would know why his generation is called and known as the "Greatest Generation". Comrade Guthrie was one of the Best of that Generation and his legacy will live.

I met Russell in a Mcdonalds having breakfast while on vacation in Buffalo. I immediately noticed him sitting in the corner with his 761st tank battalion hat with all it's pins and medals. I next proceeded to ask him if he was in the war. Wow! The things I learned about WW2 and his experiences. I latered learned of the significance of the 761st tank battalion and what he went through. Our Dear Neighbor will be missed. He was a person of great substance. May God our Father provide strength to the family at this difficult time.

Russell Guthrie was a man any family would be proud of. I met him at a ceremony at the Donovan Post and was extremely glad that he showed up. What he went through during the war was incredible. The world lost an awesome Veteran!
