Ruth Kenan

Mrs. Ruth Anne Meyer Kenan of Raleigh, NC passed away on October 20th, 2025.
Ruth Anne was born in Saint Mary of the Rock, Indiana January 6th, 1923 of the late Henry and Gertrude Hesselbrock Meyer. She was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph on the Ohio College and of the Good Samaritan School of Nursing, both in Cincinnati OH.
Ruth Anne worked as a Laboratory Assistant in skin research for Procter & Gamble 1947-51. She performed part-time work: as a hospital staff nurse, a psychiatric staff nurse at Devereaux Foundation, investigator for communicable disease committee, substitute teacher aide, medical transcriptionist, substitute school nurse and other part time work.
In addition to her professional life, Ruth Anne was very active in her church, the Red Cross and several other charitable organizations. She enjoyed reading and traveling and was a Life Master Bridge player. She loved playing card games and other games such as Chicken Foot recently and often won. She was quite clever with solving small problems and other activities. There is more that could be said for her 102 years of course, but most importantly, she is at peace with the Lord now. Ruth Anne will be missed by her family, friends and neighbors.
Ruth Anne is survived by four children: Scott David Kenan of Wilmington, NC Jane Ann Kenan of Raleigh, NC, Michael William Kenan/Daughter in law Gail Godley Kenan of Berwyn PA, and Julia Ruth Duffy(Kenan) of Elverson, PA.
- She has 3 grandchildren, Connor Kenan with wife Catherine of Denver, CO, Maxwell Kenan with fiancée Chloe of Philadelphia, PA and Taylor Kenan Smith with husband Grant Smith of Philadelphia, PA.
- Ruth Anne also has 2 great grandchildren by Connor and Cat Kenan - Jack Kenan (3 yrs) and Sophie Kenan (1 yr).
- As well as several nieces and nephews.
Ruth Anne was preceded in death by her husband William Scott, her brothers Marcellus Meyer and wife Jeanne, Dr. Robert Meyer and wife Patricia, and her nephew Greg Meyer.
A memorial Mass will be held at Saint Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church on Falls of the Neuse Rd. on Wednesday, October 29th at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in the name of Mrs. Kenan may be sent to Catholic relief services, Attn: Donor services, PO Box 17152, Baltimore MD 21298-8452. A Funeral Mass will be held on October 29, 2025, from 01:00 AM to 02:30 AM at St Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church 5801 Falls of Neuse Rd
