Not sure what to say?

Dear Gerry, Carey and I were so sorry to hear about Sally's passing. I remember her as such a gracious and enthusiastic presence during my visits to your home to discuss various businees matters. Our thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.

Carol and Family,
I was sorry to learn of your mother's passing. I remember fondly all of the fantastic food and fun parties she would host back when we were in high school. She truly was the best chef! My deepest condolences to your entire family.

My condolences. I will always remember the sailing trip to the Caribbean with Sally, Roger, Carol and Gerry.

Dear Gerry;
As expected but not welcome, so sorry to hear of Sally's passing.
I will see you at the service.
