DR. SANDYS S. TANG
1955 - 2021
On March 22, 2021, Dr. Sandys S. Tang left this life of light and momentary troubles and entered a new, eternal life with his beloved Savior, Jesus Christ. In the privacy of his home, his heart failed.
Sandys Tang was born 65 years ago in Hong Kong. He met his future bride at St. Paul's Co-educational College grade school, and later came to the U.S. to study at Stanford University where he graduated with distinction. He went to medical school at the University of Texas, Galveston and was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
He began his surgical practice in 1987, joining Dr. Palitz and Dr. Loos, and he served the Kern County community for 34 years. His caring, compassionate, surgical skill is remembered in the subtle and precise scars borne by his patients whose lives were extended because of his medical expertise. His quiet, gentle nature was appreciated by all who worked with him at Mercy hospital, Adventist hospital and Memorial hospital.
Dr. Tang was devoted to all aspects of life, physical and spiritual. He poured his life into his patients (whether they had medical insurance or not), was an avid gardener, and supported African pastors who raise chickens to be self-sustaining and feed their hungry congregations. His heart was always for the dialysis patients in the community and in lieu of flowers, a donation to Suggs Memorial Renal Fund may be made in his memory.
He is survived by his mother Susan, brother Henry (Lisa), sister Mai, brother Tom (Anita), nephews William (Eve), Max, Milton; nieces Murphy, Tasha, Nicola; grandnephews Liam, Ryan, and his beloved wife of 36 years, Mora.
He will be buried in a private ceremony at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Today, October 21, 2024, I was remembering, as one does, important people from my past. As a family practice resident in 1982 to 1985 at Kern Medical Center, I had the distinct pleasure and joy of working alongside Dr. Tang during my surgery rotations. I said yes to each and every opportunity day or night and especially middle of the night and on call to share the surgical experience of assisting Dr. Tang. He shared his humanity, his developing expertise, and his helpful instruction in allowing me to hone enough surgical skills that they served me well throughout my 36 year career as a solo family physician in Olympia, Washington. Sandys made those weeks and months, working side-by-side into a real pleasure, and made memories and created the feeling of friendship and camaraderie because of the shared gift of being a physician. Today when searching for Dr Tang on the internet out of fond memory, I was so sad to discover his life ended at such a young age. I was not surprised that his gentle spirit and kind approach to service touched so many lives. He touched mine too.

Dr. Tang was one of the best people I ever knew. He saved my dad‘s life more than once. He came back and checked on him after he finished all of his surgeries after midnight because my dad was sobupset. Dr. Loos had already came by and checked on my dad. Dr Tang wanted to reassure him as well.
He did 3or 4 surgeries on my dad, a couple on my mom and one on me too. He was “our” surgeon. Rest In Peace , good sir

Oh Mora, I just learned of the passing of your precious husband today when I called the office. He was the most amazing surgeon, 2 for me and 1 for my late husband. Never was there a kinder, more gentle man that Dr. Tang. So thankful that he was a man of deep faith and we will all be together again but for now, may the God of all peace and comfort be with you and all of your family and also those of us that he cared for all those years. Mora, you may not remember me but I worked for Dr. Min years ago. I never forgot you. You were special. Love and prayers sweet lady.

Dr Tang will surely be missed. I worked with him for many years at Mercy Hospital. He was always kind to those he worked with and to his patients also. He will be missed by many, but is the arms of His Savior Jesus Christ.

Dr Tang was a beautiful and gentle soul. He was calm, patient, graceful. He handled everything with such peace. His patients loved him and so did I. He was a wonderful boss and always treated us with honor. It was my honor to have worked along side with Dr Tang. Rest in Peace Dr Tang. Sincerest and most heartfelt condolences to Mora. May you find peace and comfort in your beautiful memories.

Sandys was my neighbor for about 25 years. He was also my surgeon in 2005. He would run by my house each day with a smile on his face and a wave of he saw me. He was such a very caring and compassion man and we will miss him. Mora - thinking of you with thoughts and prayers. Much love, always Karen Krausse

I worked with Dr. Tang many years at Mercy. In caring for his patients, he always took his time and talked with them. He never talked down to them. Dr. Tang was a skillful surgeon but more important , he was a kind compassionate man. I am so sorry for your loss.
