Sara COBB Obituary

COBB, Sara Beth
Sara Beth Cobb, 77, of Austin, TX passed away in the early morning of Jan 24, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born January 29, 1938 in Trion GA to Carl Newsome & Edith Newsome. Sara graduated from Trion High School.

Sara is survived by her high school sweetheart and loving husband of 57 years, Clyde; daughters Laura (Brad) and Carolyn (Ian) and son David (Cindy), 6 grandchildren , Michael, Ben, Weston, Tiana, Chloe and Atticus along with her sister Celia (Jimmy) and wonderful friends and family across the country. She was a much beloved mother and grandmother.

Sara joyously dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family. Sara and Clyde were married after they fell in love in high school, where Sara was homecoming queen and a beauty pageant winner. Sara worked fulltime to support Clyde while he attended The University of Georgia. She is openly credited with the success of Clyde's career by running a tight ship at home and supporting him though out the many moves they made together.

Sara and her family lived in many cities all over the country and she was universally loved by anyone who had the pleasure to know her. Sara loved nothing more than spending time with all of her family which she did often.

Sara's wishes were to be joined with her family in Trion, GA and a celebration of her wonderful life will be scheduled at a later date. A memorial guestbook is available online at: http://www.cookwaldenfuneralhome.com

We will miss Sara's kind smile and warm loving hugs. It was such a pleasure knowing her for all the years of my friendship with Carolyn. She always greeted me and my family with a big smile and hug for everyone. She was always eager to hear how everyone was doing especially my young girls.

She was the quintessential Southern belle, exuding strength and poise with unmatched grace. She will be missed.

My prayer for you, Clyde and family is that you continue to remember all the things about Sara that made her who she was. That you recall happy times both from your youth to the later years and do so with a smile. I hope that you find solace in knowing Sara is in a place now where she is at peace.

All my love to each of you.

Helen and I join the chorus of those sending love and prayers from all corners. While it was our loss to have only known Sara a short while, she touched our lives by showing kindness, particularly to Aidan, who was only 9 when he met her.

Ed and I were so sorry to hear of Sara's passing. When we sold our house across the street from Sara and Clyde, one thing we regretted was moving across town from them. We were neighbors for 12 years. Sara and I enjoyed our times together at the Great Hills Ladies Club and occasionally at lunch. Sara was a caring person. If she had not seen us in a while, she would phone just to make sure everything was alright. Ed and I feel this loss as if she were family.
