Sarah E. Friend, age 74 of Goshen, IN, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at her residence. She was born on January 31, 1951 in Bremen, IN to John and Matilda (Yoder) Miller. Sarah was a lifelong resident of the Goshen area. She worked in home health care and lovingly cared for many patients over the years. Sarah was a woman of faith and attended Christian Center Church in South Bend, IN. She loved her Lord and spent time in her Bible daily. Throughout her life she enjoyed quilting and gardening. She loved to cook and bake and often entertained family and friends over meals and baked goods. Above all, she was a loving mother and grandmother. She especially loved the time she spent playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren as they grew up. Sarah is survived by 5 children: Scott (Lara) Bethel of Granger, IN, Julie (Jeremy) Welker of Goshen, Stacey (Ryan) McDonald of Goshen, Nikole Barrett of Bloomington, IN, and Jennifer Friend of Goshen; 8 grandchildren: Serena Bethel, Cecilia Bethel, Morgen McDonald, Landon McDonald, Anaia Barrett, Braxton Friend, Braydon Hodgemire, and Isabella Friend; 3 great grandchildren: Louie, Francesco, and Lucianna Polito; and 5 siblings: Ruth (Mike) Meine of TX, Abraham (Donna) Miller of White Pigeon, MI, Lucinda (Donnie) Gaut of Nappanee, IN, Devon Miller of Ft. Wayne, IN and Keith (Roxanne) Miller of Bremen. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Elam Miller. Visitation will be held from Noon – 2pm on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home in Nappanee. A funeral service will begin at 2 pm at the funeral home and burial will follow in South Union Cemetery.
